Big Horn

A relatively new resort, Big Horn Ski Resort is located in the stunning Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. When you consider the mountain’s summit elevation of 9400 ft and the absolutely stunning surroundings, you may well wonder why it took so long to build a resort here in the first place. Big Horn has a vertical drop of 1000 ft and still has relatively few skiing trails. However, the resort is still in its infancy and has all the qualities to expand into a major resort.

Big Horn Ski Resort is still quite a small resort and will offer you great exclusivity, if that’s what you’re after. It currently has fourteen trails and three lifts in a 160-acre ski area – clearly there is plenty of room for expansion. However, for now, the resort makes good use of its diminutive size and it combines the trails with three restaurants, a terrain park, a half pipe, bars, snowmobile rentals and stunning lodging. The lounge features a large stone fireplace to warm your cold fingers and toes and you will find a pool and a variety of other entertainment options. The trails are rated 30% beginner, 40% intermediate and 30% advanced. Both the lodge and the foot of the mountain enjoy the scenic splendour of Meadowlark Lake.

The resort is more for older children and adults, and while not offering child care facilities, it remains child friendly in that it offers children’s programs and caters well to the needs of children. Other facilities include 15 km of cross-country skiing, ski and snowboarding lessons, ski and snowboarding rental, a 55% snowmaking capability and a variety of nearby lodging. The resort is generally open between November and April each year. If you’re looking for a resort where you can enjoy excellent skiing, luxury, privacy and scenery all rolled into one package, make Big Horn Ski Resort your next winter destination.
